Here at silkscreen we do many different types of printing. Here is a basic list of some of the terms we use and what they mean.
Screenprinting This is the process of applying ink to a textile, using an image burned out of a screen and a squeegie to apply ink. It is a very tactile, vivid and permanent. Great for printing in large quantities.
Embroidery This is the process of producing an image out of multicolored string, sewn by a machine directly into the fabric. Very permanent and very tactile. Great for logos and names.
Photo Transfer This is a heat transfer process, done with printed transfer sheets, though less tactile and permanent, it is possible to do smaller orders more quickly than with screenprinting.
Laser Engraving Done mostly on wood and metal, this process is for engraving images into a hard substances with a computer controlled laser which burns images directly into the material. |

When you place an order with us, there is a 7 to 10 day turn around from the day you place your order to the day you recieve your product. A 3 day rush job is possible but will cost $25 on top of your quoted price.
An artwork date will also be set on your order, on that date, you will be contacted by our art dept (in the way you specify when placing the order, e-mial, phone, etc.) to approve the artwork. Jobs cannot be processed without artwork that was approved in person, over fax or e-mail. Once the artwork is approved it is sent to our printers for final printing.
Pricing is based on the product being printed on and the quantity, the number of imprint areas, and the number of ink colors. When calling for a quote, it would be best to know most of this, though we are always glad to help you decide.

Artwork can be brought to us in a variety of formats. A hard copy in solid black and white is usually the best, but photographs and other multicolored images will work as well. If the paper copy cannot be used to print, our art department can reconstruct the picture, so you're sure to get what you're looking for. Artwork can also be sent to us digitally over e-mail or given to us on a variety of digital media.
We take almost all forms of digital media, including floppy disks, CDr/rw, DVDr/rw, jump/pen drives, smart media, MMC, SD, sony memory sticks, and compact flash. (please avoid mac formatted media, we run microsoft windows on all of our office computers and cannot read disks formatted for the macOS, if you are using a mac, please e-mail your file or burn it onto a cd). When submitting digital artwork please make sure it is in one of our usable formats.
The best format to submit work to us in is vector based drawing programs such as: Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator, and eps files.
We support all forms of bitmapped images: (bitmap, jpeg, tiff, gif, png, etc.)
If possible please avoid the following formats: microsoft office (word, excell, powerpoint, pagemaker) and quark express, our art programs cannot extract artwork out of those files.
If you just have an idea, or a simple drawing, you can talk to our talented art department who can create a great design from your idea, at no extra charge to your order!
Artwork created by our art department is property of Silkscreen Unlimited until printed on your product or purchased.
